SHE’S BACK! In her first cabaret show in Chicago in 2021, KAREN MASON will celebrate the 23RD Anniversary of her Opening of Davenports, her favorite Chicago boite!! It will be night of unforgettable music, stories, laughter, and joy, and perhaps a few surprises…..because you never know what will happen with this vaccinated gal ! Karen’s all-new show will feature her favorite songs and arrangements, including “You’ve Got a Friend”, “Lulu’s Back in Town,” “On Broadway”, “Broadway Baby”, including songs written by the songwriters she has known throughout her career, such as Kander & Ebb, Amanda McBroom, Marilyn & Alan Bergman, Sheldon Harnick, and her husband Paul Rolnick, as well as new music chosen specifically for this celebratory night. “Movie: The Musical” Is a podcast about movies that have been turned into musicals. With over 40 episodes recorded so far, host Ben Kaye and Producer Bran Moorhead are finally bringing their hot takes on the worlds of film and theater to the stage! This fun-filled evening will include trivia, special guests, and song selections from some of our favorite episodes, sung by Ben and Bran themselves!
If you've ever hummed along or tapped a foot to such memorable tunes as Witchcraft, Big Spender or I’ve Got Your Number, then you're already acquainted with a Cy Coleman melody, if not with the man himself. Join singer/actor Anita Kallen and Music Director Beckie Menzie as they salute the "unsung" musical genius of this Broadway and Billboard hit-maker. They’ll open the Coleman songbook, highlight some of his finest musical gems (and stories of his celebrity elbow-rubbing) and toast the “noteworthy” -- but not yet legendary -- Cy Coleman.

Working In Concert's Bellissima Opera is re-releasing our acclaimed online opera, with thanks to health care workers who have been on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19. We’re especially pleased to announce that the collegiate premiere in April by Western Michigan University Opera Department was awarded First Place in Opera Production in its category by the National Opera Association. Also, we thank Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 73 for sharing On Call: COVID-19 with its 40,000 members.
But why stop there? Let’s have everyone come into this work of art, from NOVEMBER 28 through JANUARY 31.
Created by librettist CHRISTINE STEYER, composer DAVID SHENTON, and director CARL RATNER, the one-hour opera looks in on a series of “Zoom” calls by six medics struggling with the unfolding pandemic.
Calling in from Chicago, Seoul, Rio de Janeiro, Lombardy, New York City, and a Syrian refugee camp near Beirut, the colleagues provide each other a lifeline and ultimately discover that kindness and compassion can be as powerful a tool as a vaccine and ventilator.
Will it make you cry? Ah, like any really good opera, you’ll cry and laugh and rejoice.
