Want to know what your mom was thinking? Professional singer and amateur mom, Caryn Caffarelli reveals that - spoiler alert - parenting is hard, we become our mothers, and mother doesn’t always know best.

Caryn has spent decades of work in the field, soothing babies, picking up toys, enduring eye rolls, and surviving the college drop off. After many meltdowns, mostly her own, she was made better through motherhood. In MOMufactured, Caryn weaves tales of epic mom fails and triumphs with clever arrangements of songs from Rod Stewart’s “Forever Young”, to Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life”, and even the disco sensation “I Will Survive.” Caryn also sprinkles in parenting resources and tried and true tricks of the trade. With Andrew Blendermann on piano and back up vocals, and under the smart direction of Chicago theater and film veteran Dale Calandra, MOMufactured gives us a peak inside the mind of a mom, and reminds us why parents sign up for the job in the first place.

SongShop Live presents a garden concert in Albany Park.

The garden is in bloom. For forty fortunate people there’s room to enjoy songs up close and personal, whether jazz, blues, operetta, musical theatre or new and contemporary. The company’s fine, we’ll offer some wine.

The theme was launched by Gabriel’s original song “Talking to Petals” and Staci’s rendition of “I’m a Stranger Here Myself”. Truly floral… come as strangers and leave as friends.

Howard Pfeifer is our music director, with Claudia Hommel as producer and host. We are joined by an exquisite lineup of singers who have honed our songs together in SongShop sessions this summer:

Jessie Bolger, Evelyn Danner, Jeanne Franks, Ruth Fuerst, Claudia Hommel, Staci Kelley, Jonathan Lewis, Irene Michaels, Barbara Smith, Gabriel Valentino, and Carol Weston

Suggested donation ($5 to $50) requested to support Working In Concert's SongShop Scholarship Fund. The fund provides advanced singers financial aid to further their performance art.

Reserve your place at https://songshoplive.com/rsvp
We will come indoors in case of rain!

Isabelle Georges returns to Chicago direct from Paris, August 22. Those who were fortunate to work with her at our Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion in May acclaimed her as a favorite master teacher. The quote is from Oscar Wilde and serves as Isabelle’s motto for her classes. Andrew Blendermann will accompany. We’ll meet at 6 PM and begin the work by 6:30 PM. As of Weds, we have 3 slots open for singers and 12 for auditors. $75 to sing and $35 to audit.
