Subject: Sad News - Carol Weston
From: Claudia Hommel

You are receiving this message from a Chicago Cabaret member...
Carol Weston's family has informed us that Carol died this morning in Arizona.

Carol started singing and playing piano and violin at a very young age.

For many years, she was a troubadour with guitar in hand, playing in schools and libraries, senior centers, private parties, as well as at Navy Pier and Taste of Chicago’s family stages. She was long associated with Old Town School of Music for their children's programs and with Urban Gateways in the schools. A founding member of the Chicago Cabaret Professionals since its initial gatherings in late 1997, she was able to live her dream of becoming a cabaret singer. She formed the CAR trio with Arlene Armstrong and Ruth Fuerst to present Life Is…Snapshots in Song and Thank You for the Music; appeared with Don Hoffman at Davenport’s in I’ll Take Romance. She joined Claudia Hommel's very first SongShop (at Sherwood Conservatory in 1999 and again at DePaul in 2003). She performed in almost all of the SongShop concerts from the Jazz Showcase to Cyrano’s, DePaul, Daystar Center, garden  concerts, as well as opening up her own home for master classes and more. She sang and played the piano at the Carlton Club at the Ritz, Cité restaurant atop Lake Pointe Tower, and the Forge Club in Vernon Hills.

We do not yet know of memorial plans. The family has asked Ruth Fuerst to be their point person for the cabaret community. Ruth can be reached via text at 773-320-2827 or ruthfuerst@gmail.com. Claudia is assisting at claudia@workinginconcert.org.

For Carol, the softest of energy, the sweetest of song, the kindest of souls.
