Historic First Presbyterian Church in downtown Racine inaugurated their now annual Music and More free weekly summer noontime concert series in 1993. The mission was to highlight local and regional artists and spotlight their work. I‘ve been a part of this series for at least 20 of those 33 years and I thought it would be fun to have my moment this year feature songs that were heard on Broadway and in the movies exactly 33 years ago, in 1993. I cannot wait to kick off this year‘s series on Thursday June 4 singing songs from the Gershwin score featured in Broadway‘s "Crazy For You", along with an "Oklahoma!" medley including songs in the Rodgers & Hammerstein Broadway revue "A Grand Night for Singing", a sweet song from the beloved film "Sleepless in Seattle", plus a piano medley from "Phantom of the Opera". The concerts are free but offerings are accepted and will be distributed to area nonprofit agencies. Tell your Racine friends!!

Come hear five great singers sing what they sing best. Arlene Armstrong, Joyce Thomas, Patricia Mosley, Sonia Oyola, and Tirzah Blomberg will entertain you with Latin rhythms, jazz, Broadway tunes and blues. They will be accompanied by Chicago’s own Paul Thompson. The incomparable David Stephens is our new our master of ceremony.

Aurora Boe, recipient of the 2025 CCP Emerging Artist Showcase featuring the Denise Tomasello Cabaret Scholarship, is making her solo cabaret debut!

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of the National Organization for Women with the HERstory Duo on Tuesday, June 30th at 1 PM! Chicago cabaret artists Anita Kallen and Catherine Thomson (HERstoryMusicalShows.com) prove once again that “well-behaved women seldom make history.” They salute – in song and HERstory – the rabble-rousing pioneers who won the right to vote for the women of America and those fighting to preserve it today. With music by Sondheim, Lennon & McCartney, the Sherman Brothers, Parton, Schwartz, Porter, and others, Anita and Catherine weave in the story of women’s suffrage from second-class citizenship at the nation’s founding to the nail-biting final days in the fight for ratification of the 19th Amendment and to present-day efforts to preserve and maximize the power of women voting.
