French-Cameroonian vocalist and songwriter Suzie Telep invites audiences into an intimate house concert at Sonia Oyola’s home, featuring original songs and reimagined repertoire from jazz, soul, French chanson, West African, and Afro-Caribbean traditions. Singing in French, English, Basaa, Creole, and more, she offers a heartfelt musical journey centered on storytelling, rhythm, and connection. A former presence on the Paris jazz scene at iconic venues including 38 Riv’ and Péniche Marcounet, Suzie now brings her powerful voice and magnetic, storytelling-driven stage presence to Chicago audiences. Join drummer and bandleader Ellie Rui and her quintet, featuring vocalist Suzie Telep, for an evening of live jazz at Lemon. The ensemble brings together jazz standards, original compositions, and inspired improvisation in a dynamic live performance.

A fun and informative multi media exploration that takes you behind the scenes of one of the most beloved movie musicals ever made – ‘Singin’ in the Rain”. This in-depth program explores how the film came together, from its unlikely beginnings to its brilliant choreography and unforgettable performances. It all started with MGM producer Arthur Freed, who asked writers Betty Comden and Adolph Green to build a screenplay around songs he had co-written decades earlier. They created a witty look at Hollywood’s chaotic transition from silent films to “talkies” in the late 1920s. Fresh from filming An American in Paris, Gene Kelly agreed to star in and co-direct the film. Alongside Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor, he brought extraordinary energy and talent to the screen. From O’Connor’s gravity-defying “Make ’Em Laugh” to Kelly’s iconic dance in the rain, discover the stories behind the moments that continue to delight audiences. Charles Troy is a graphic designer and former theatre lyricist who has developed more than 60 multimedia presentations on musical theatre subjects. During the McCarthy era of the 1950s, actors, composers, singers, and writers were blacklisted for their perceived political beliefs, Blacklisted: A Concert of Songs Made Famous by Blacklisted Artists brings their stories back to life through unforgettable music, powerful narration and rare archival images. Created by Carla Gordon, this moving and entertaining production celebrates the resilience, courage and artistry of cultural icons including Judy Holliday and Zero Mostel; composers Leonard Bernstein, Marc Blitzstein, Elmer Bernstein and Yip Harburg; singers Hazel Scott, Lena Horne and Paul Robeson; and writer Studs Terkel.
