Artists from Black Voices in Cabaret come home from France, having participated in the Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion in Lyon, Paris and Dordogne. We are joined by other BVIC and Cabaret Connexion artists to celebrate the awe-inspiring exhibit of "Paris in Black" and to launch Black History Month at the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center. BLACK VOICES IN CABARET: Valerie Chestnut, Kenneth Fobs, Beverly Tyree, Sean Harris, Patricia Mosley, R. Darryl Thomas, Lynne Jordan, Robin Watson, Sonia Oyola, Ava Logan, Randolph Johnson, I’m M$ B’Havin, Patricia Tyson Fellow performers from Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion: Claudia Hommel, Jeanie Carroll, The Swingin’ Sisters (Tirzah Joy, Barbara Smith, and Carolyn Broquet). Music director Howie Pfeifer at the keyboard with Paul McAdams on guitar and Kathryn Hahn on flute. We begin with an exclusive guided tour of the exhibit "Paris in Black: Internationalism and the Black Renaissance" at 4:30 pm. The concert will follow at 6pm in the Lower Skylight Gallery, set amidst exhibit montages and a Parisian café ambiance. The DuSable museum is our nation’s oldest independent Black history museum, and a Smithsonian Institution affiliate, founded in 1961. Black Voices in Cabaret was founded in 2020 to spotlight the immense talent of African-American performers in cabaret. The Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion plans its 8th international exchange coming to Chicago in November 2026. Working In Concert is the parent organization for both cabaret initiatives. The stately museum building is located just west of the U of C Medical Center at Cottage Grove and 57th Street. There is ample free street parking along Payne Drive on the west and north side of the museum.
